Position

  • Responsible for managing and developing assigned Key Account(s), and the complex internal and external relationships necessary to do so.
  • Support the growth of assigned Key Account(s), and develop new opportunities identified in the market.
  • This position is pivotal as the Key Account Manager (KAM) owns the key relationships across all levels of the customers’ organisations and drive the business internally, requiring strong interaction across all levels within product, operations, IT, compliance, and senior management to bring the best value and supply chain solutions for the customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role requires strong business acumen, with strategic business approach to understand and maximise on business opportunities that the account presents.
  • Can read the room and have a good understanding of opportunities and/or red flags, both internally and externally.
  • Be analytical, sharp and have critical thinking.
  • Identify potential for growth and continuous improvements to support account retention and development of new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain business relationship with all key stakeholders across all levels of the customer’s organisation, including at board and directors’ level.
  • Manage business retentions, account development, and further growth through account penetration, customer relationship management, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and manage negotiations and procurements activities such as RFQs and/or retention activities.
  • Create and maintain implementation documents such as SOPs and work instructions.
  • Lead and Project Manage internal and external projects such as EDI Projects especially if there is a special project requested by the customer.
  • Lead Project Implementations (as and when required).
  • Drive internal alignment to meet customer performance objectives and expectations.

  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic approach and vision to establish the account’s strategic direction for the future.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence outcome, and people management abilities.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to use Ms PowerPoint or other software.
  • Ability to lead and drive business meetings both internal and external.
  • Ability to work effectively within a customer driven deadline environment.

Qualification/Education

  • 3rd level qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar or related role.
  • Previous experience in the logistics/transport sector is a plus but not mandatory.
